Summary: Daily Bible reading for 2026-10-18: A New Way of Being. Reflections on Renewal, Holiness, Cleansing and links to cited verse pages.

1. You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, “You mountains of Israel, hear Yahweh’s word.
2. The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because the enemy has said against you, “Aha!” and, “The ancient high places are ours in possession!” ’
3. therefore prophesy, and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;”
4. therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh: The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which have become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are all around;
5. therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.” ’
6. Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and tell the mountains, the hills, the watercourses and the valleys, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because you have borne the shame of the nations.”
7. Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “I have sworn, ‘Surely the nations that are around you will bear their shame.’
8. “ ‘ “But you, mountains of Israel, you shall shoot out your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.
9. For, behold, I am for you, and I will come to you, and you will be tilled and sown.
10. I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, even all of it. The cities will be inhabited, and the waste places will be built.
11. I will multiply man and animal on you. They will increase and be fruitful. I will cause you to be inhabited as you were before, and you will do better than at your beginnings. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
12. Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will never again bereave them of their children.”
13. “ ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because they say to you, ‘You are a devourer of men, and have been a bereaver of your nation;’
14. therefore you shall devour men no more, and not bereave your nation any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.
15. “I won’t let you hear the shame of the nations any more. You won’t bear the reproach of the peoples any more, and you won’t cause your nation to stumble any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.’ ”
16. Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
17. “Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and by their deeds. Their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.
18. Therefore I poured out my wrath on them for the blood which they had poured out on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols.
19. I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. I judged them according to their way and according to their deeds.
20. When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them, ‘These are Yahweh’s people, and have left his land.’
21. But I had respect for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.
22. “Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “I don’t do this for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.
23. I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh,” says the Lord Yahweh, “when I am proven holy in you before their eyes.
24. “ ‘ “For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.
26. I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
27. I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.
28. You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
29. I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain, and will multiply it, and lay no famine on you.
30. I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field, that you may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.
31. “ ‘ “Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
32. I don’t do this for your sake,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Let it be known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.”
33. “ ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited and the waste places will be built.
34. The land that was desolate will be tilled instead of being a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.
35. They will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden. The waste, desolate, and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.’
36. Then the nations that are left around you will know that I, Yahweh, have built the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate. I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and I will do it.”
37. “ ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “For this, moreover, I will be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.
38. As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so the waste cities will be filled with flocks of men. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

1. Yahweh’s hand was on me, and he brought me out in Yahweh’s Spirit, and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones.
2. He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry.
3. He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I answered, “Lord Yahweh, you know.”
4. Again he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, ‘You dry bones, hear Yahweh’s word.
5. The Lord Yahweh says to these bones: “Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you will live.
6. I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.” ’ ”
7. So I prophesied as I was commanded. As I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, there was an earthquake. Then the bones came together, bone to its bone.
8. I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.
9. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’ ”
10. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
11. Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’
12. Therefore prophesy, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.
13. You will know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people.
14. I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live. Then I will place you in your own land; and you will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it,” says Yahweh.’ ”
15. Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying,
16. “You, son of man, take one stick, and write on it, ‘For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions.’ Then take another stick, and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions.’
17. Then join them for yourself to one another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand.
18. “When the children of your people speak to you, saying, ‘Won’t you show us what you mean by these?’
19. tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in my hand.
20. The sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes.” ’
21. Say to them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, where they have gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.
22. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. One king will be king to them all. They will no longer be two nations. They won’t be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.
23. They won’t defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. So they will be my people, and I will be their God.
24. “ ‘ “My servant David will be king over them. They all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them.
25. They will dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived. They will dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever. David my servant will be their prince forever.
26. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more.
27. My tent also will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
28. The nations will know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forever more.” ’ ”
  Ezekiel Ezekiel 36

And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. _a_And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes

The miraculous change that the Father God makes in our lives, it can be seen even from outside our purview, non believers will say something is different, God’s holy fire burns out the impurities of our lives and brings out His breath “Yahweh”, God put part of himself in us when He made us, and we must offer it back to Him as it is His, Glory be to God for He is in control of all. He is to be praised all the time in all that I do.

And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people - Ezekiel 37:13

_The Holy Bible: English Standard Version_ (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2025), Eze 37:13.
So I learnt that there are different prophesy types so from Logos I searched:
Biblical prophecy divides into three distinct categories based on when fulfillment occurs. Prophecies fulfilling within or shortly after the prophet’s lifetime belong to the near-term category1. These typically announce impending judgment, such as the destruction of Samaria in 722 BC and Jerusalem in 5861, though they sometimes concern the downfall of enemy nations, offering encouragement to God’s oppressed people1. Importantly, near-term prophecies carried a conditional quality—repentance could defer or delay the announced judgment1.

Middle-term prophecies were fulfilled centuries after being spoken, long after the original audience died, though they represent matters of ancient history to modern readers, with Christ’s first coming providing the most common examples1. Micah 5:2 and Zechariah 9:9 illustrate this category1.

Far-term prophecies remain unfulfilled even from the modern perspective and are eschatological in nature1. These encompass God’s final judgment on nations alongside the blessings of a future Davidic kingdom, describing Israel’s restoration and gathering under one Davidic King in lasting peace and prosperity1.

The terminology reflects the timeframe of fulfillment rather than the content of the prophecy itself. Near-term and far-term (or eschatological) represent the two poles you mentioned, with middle-term serving as a bridge category for prophecies spanning the centuries between the prophet’s era and the present day

So when Ezekiel 37:13 talks about graves I wonder if this is the end times being spoken of?
1. After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.
2. He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!
3. For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”
4. I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,
5. for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.
6. Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.
7. However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’
8. Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.
9. The kings of the earth who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,
10. standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’
11. The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more:
12. merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;
13. and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.
14. The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you. All things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.
15. The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,
16. saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
17. For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,
18. and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’
19. They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour.
20. “Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her.”
21. A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.
22. The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.
23. The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.
24. In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
  Revelation Revelation 18

Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit
_The Holy Bible: English Standard Version_ (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2025), Re 18:2.
The way its spoken here is like Babylon is a place, something interesting i found out is that:
Modern-day Babylon exists primarily as ==a vast UNESCO World Heritage Site located near the town of Al-Hillah in Iraq, about 53 miles (85 kilometers) south of Baghdad==
Knowing this and then looking at history through the lens of the bible then looking at conflict from that region makes more sense. Same spirits different days, the book of Revelation I always thought it only of a prediction of what will be did not consider that it it is of what was and what is.
1. Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,
2. “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3. Brace yourself like a man, for I will question you, then you answer me!
4. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding.
5. Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it?
6. What were its foundations fastened on? Or who laid its cornerstone,
7. when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8. “Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke out of the womb,
9. when I made clouds its garment, and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10. marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors,
11. and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here?’
  Job Job 38

Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth
_The Holy Bible: English Standard Version_ (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2025), Job 38:4.

Eating humble pie, we need to remind ourselves that God is supreme, and He is in control, its is hard at times when we are in the midst of our view of things, it is important to read the Word, the logos, Gods word, the bible to shift our eyes on His will and purpose and see how He works as the time span in the bible is wide and we can see how His will works and weaves through time.
